Privacy Policy
Version 1.0 — Effective: 15 September 2026
Courtesy translation. The legally binding version of this document is the German one. You can read it in the app by switching the language to Deutsch. Where this translation and the German version differ, the German version prevails.
In short
This app stores everything on your device only. It sends nothing to the internet — nothing at all. We never see your name, your study times or your subjects.
There is no advertising, there are no cookies, and nothing tracks you.
You can delete everything: in the settings under "Delete my data", or by uninstalling the app. After that it is gone.
The LearnBabo website is a different thing from the app. If you visit the website in a browser, our host sees your IP address — that is how the internet works. Section 9 is about that.
Note. This summary is here to help you understand the text below. Legally, the text below is what counts.
1. Controller
The controller within the meaning of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is:
Jose Antonio Riquelme Garcia
Gmunderstr. 22b
81379 München
Germany
Email: info@learnbabo.com
No data protection officer has been appointed, as the conditions of Art. 37 GDPR and § 38 BDSG are not met.
2. The main point: the app transmits no data
The app makes no network requests. There is no server it contacts and no address it sends anything to. Everything you enter in the app, and everything the app records about your study sessions, stays in your device's storage.
In particular, the app contains:
- no analytics tools (no Google Analytics, no Firebase Analytics, nothing comparable),
- no crash reports that are sent anywhere,
- no advertising and no advertising identifiers (no IDFA, no Advertising ID),
- no third-party tracking SDKs,
- no cookies — cookies are a browser technology and do not occur in the app,
- no sign-in, no account, no password.
It follows that the provider receives no personal data from you. The provider cannot send you your data, delete it or hand it over, because the provider has none.
3. What is stored on your device
A complete list of what the app stores on the device:
Your profile
- the display name you enter yourself (a first name or a nickname is enough — the app does not verify it and needs no real name),
- the country and region you select,
- the language you choose.
Your study sessions
- planned duration, actual duration, and focused time excluding breaks,
- start and end,
- status (running, completed, cancelled),
- mode (free or Pomodoro) and, for Pomodoro, the number of rounds and the lengths of study phases and breaks,
- the subject assigned to the session.
Your subjects
- predefined and self-created subjects, with name, emoji and sort order.
Your settings
- whether onboarding is complete,
- your appearance choice (light or dark),
- whether focus mode is active and which notification categories it silences,
- on iOS, whether an information banner has already been dismissed,
- on Android, the previous "Do Not Disturb" state, so the app can restore it after the session.
Technical
- the installed app version and the time it was last opened,
- the record that the Terms of Use were accepted: document identifier, version, a checksum of the text shown, the language you read it in, the time, and the app version.
This data lives in a database file in the app's private storage area. Other apps cannot access it.
4. Legal basis
Insofar as the app stores data exclusively locally on your device and the provider has no access to it, no processing of personal data by the provider takes place.
Local storage serves only to deliver the function you asked for — a study timer that remembers your study sessions. It happens at your initiative, by your use of the app.
No consent is requested, because there is nothing to consent to: no data is collected beyond what the function requires, and none is passed on.
5. Device permissions
The app needs a few system permissions. None of them sends data anywhere.
- Notifications: to remind you at the end of a study phase or a break. The notifications are generated on the device.
- Exact alarms (Android): so the reminder arrives at the right second, even when the device is asleep.
- Vibration: for a silent reminder.
- Start after reboot (Android): so scheduled reminders survive a device restart.
- Access to notification policy (Android): so focus mode can switch on "Do Not Disturb" during the session and restore the previous state afterwards.
- Focus status (iOS): the app checks whether a Focus is active in order not to interrupt you unnecessarily. It does not learn what else you are doing.
- Background audio (iOS): so the signal tone sounds even when the screen is off.
6. No recipients, no processors, no third-country transfers
There are no recipients of your data. No processors are engaged. No transfer to countries outside the European Union takes place.
This is not a promise about contract design but a consequence of the technology: the app transmits nothing (section 2).
The app stores (Apple, Google) collect their own data about the download and act as controllers in their own right. The provider has no influence over this and receives no personal data about you from it.
7. Storage period
The data stays on your device as long as you keep it. There is no automatic deletion and no retention period the provider could enforce.
8. Your rights
Under Arts. 15 to 22 GDPR you have the right of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and objection.
Against the provider these rights have nothing to act on here, and that is to your advantage: the provider holds no data about you to give access to. You can therefore exercise them directly yourself:
- Access and portability: all data is on your device and visible in the app. You already have it.
- Rectification: you can change your display name, country, region, language and subjects in the settings.
- Erasure: in the settings under "Delete my data", or by uninstalling the app. Both also delete the record of your acceptance of the Terms of Use — the app will ask again, because you are then starting from nothing.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your competent data protection supervisory authority under Art. 77 GDPR.
9. The LearnBabo website
This section is not about the app. It concerns only the website learnbabo.com. What is written here does not apply to the app, and what is written in sections 2 to 8 does not apply to the website. This separation matters so that neither is attributed to the other.
The website uses no cookies, no analytics tools and no external services. Fonts and stylesheets are served from our own server so that the browser makes no connection to third parties.
The following is technically unavoidable: the website is hosted by Cloudflare, Inc. When a page is requested, Cloudflare processes the connection data that arises — in particular your IP address, the date and time of the request, the file requested, and details about your browser and operating system. No web page can be delivered without this data.
- Purpose: delivering the website and defending against attacks.
- Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR — our legitimate interest in a secure and functioning web presence.
- Third-country aspect: Cloudflare is a US company and may also process data in the USA.
If you do not visit the website, none of this arises. The app works entirely without it.
10. Children and young people
The app is aimed at school students, and therefore at children too.
It is built so that it learns nothing about them: no account, no email address, no date of birth, no transmission, no advertising and no profiling. The display name is chosen by the child and need not be a real name.
For the same reason, the app contains no links that open a browser and no tappable email addresses. These texts are displayed inside the app itself.
11. If this changes
The plan is to extend LearnBabo with user accounts and synchronisation between devices. That does not exist today, and this policy describes only today's state.
As soon as data leaves the device, the data situation is a different one. This policy will then be replaced, and the Terms of Use will reach a new major version — which means the app asks you again before you continue using it. Nothing is transmitted without that question.
12. Authoritative language version
This policy is available in German, English, Spanish and French. The German version is authoritative.
